Every year exceptional films are selected for screening at the film festival. Every film selected to screen we consider to be a winner. The films listed below are films that stand out and are the film festival’s favorites of 2020

THE REKONING 01:50:00
A woman is falsely accused of witchcraft in England in 1665, the year of the Great Plague. While enduring a brutal trial in which she is tormented by demons both real and spiritual, her persecutors attempt to break her will , while she plots violent revenge against them.
Directed by Neil Marshall, Neil has been working very successfully in both feature films and television industry since his feature debut “Dog Soldiers” in 2001. His second feature as both writer and director “The Descent” 2005 was an even bigger critical and commercial success, winning several awards including the BIFA for Best Director, and the Empire award for Best Horror. He followed this success with the post-apocalyptic action movie “Doomsday” 2008 and historical adventure “Centurion” 2010. In 2012 Neil made his debut in the world of high-end television with Game of Thrones S2 Ep9 “Blackwater”, and followed that up with S4 Ep9 “The Watchers on the Wall” for which he received an Emmy Award Nomination.

Alice Kremelberg (Orange Is The New Black) stars as the eponymous Iris, and gives an outstanding lead performance as this tortured soul dreadfully awaiting the death of her Aunt Adelaide, played by Mary Looram (Like Father, Braid). As Aunt Adelaide slowly withers away in hospice, Iris continues her day to day routines of working in an antique shop, and scrolling online for connections through an online dating app. However, Iris has an ulterior motive behind her digital search for suitors, and it’s not love. But complications arise when Iris meets Tom, played by Grant MacDermott (Hustlers, Mr. Robot) Unfortunately, her primal nature exposes itself in the heat of lust, causing her deep seeded vampirism to emerge and overtake her instincts.
