John was awarded a “Lifetime Achievement” award at Transworld’s Haunters Convention in 2022  for his extensive work in design, building & operating over 150 haunted amusements across the USA.  Sometimes it is difficult to create the bloody gory scenes in that haunted attraction or dark amusement on a limited budget. John has been called the Gore-Meister, the Gore-Man and RA “Leatherface” Mihailoff said that John is a true Master of Horror, not to mention one sick dude. His gory work has been compared to Roger Corman, Charles Band and even Clive Barker movies. John will teach and show you how to “Gore It Up”, on a tight budget. From techniques on splattering blood to presentation of the Guts N’ Gore. John will bring his 50+ years of experience to this seminar and teach you how to save some money and still shock them with creative blood guts n gore.

From movie special effects to all things scary, John will take you on a spine-chilling journey through the art of creating mayhem in amusements and movies.

with John L Burton. Most haunted and horror project themes are in an old building of some type or at least some scenes. It could be an old factory, old store, an old laboratory or most commonly an old haunted house. But not all buildings that you can get for your project are ugly enough to fit your theme of an old nasty place. John will discuss how you can make it look old, dirty, nasty, sticky, gory, and down right creepy. John will bring his 50 plus years of experience, techniques and knowledge to this seminar. The image presentation in this seminar will include photo examples of set distressing. This seminar will cover everything from the where, what, why and how of haunted and horror distressing. Topics included are weathering, corrosion, household stains, moss and mildew stains, smoke and heat stains and drips. Also included is cracked coatings, dirt and dust, and some even battle damage.

Discussion and demonstration of wounds and gore using latex, silicone, and wax. We will discuss types of application such as free building, prosthetic and transfers. We will also touch on time management, color theory, upkeep, and lifespan of effects.

In this captivating session, we'll take a closer look at the camera crane "Leviathan" built by UNIVERSAL STUDIOS and used by none other than the Horror Master himself, Alfred Hitchcock.
